Behind the Mask: Living the Truth of an Invisible Illness

Living with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) means carrying a life-threatening condition that often hides in plain sight. It means showing up to life—even when your body is waging a silent war inside you. No swelling doesn’t mean no pain. No visible symptoms doesn’t mean we’re not constantly bracing for the next unpredictable attack.

HAE is rare, often misunderstood, and can feel incredibly isolating. It affects my intestines, my face, my airway—and yet, when you look at me, you might not see anything wrong at all. That’s the reality of an invisible disability. We’re judged on what others can see, but the truth lives deeper—beneath the surface, behind the smiles, and under the skin.

That’s why I created the Invisibly Disabled - Behind the Mask hoodie. 🖤
This piece isn't just clothing—it's a statement. It speaks for those of us who are often overlooked, dismissed, or doubted. It’s for the warriors who continue to push through the pain, show up anyway, and carry strength that most people will never fully understand.

This hoodie is for every person who’s ever had to justify their pain.
For every time we’ve heard “But you look fine.”
For every invisible battle we’ve fought alone.

Let’s unmask the truth behind rare and invisible illnesses. Let’s challenge the stigma. Let’s wear our stories—with resilience, with courage, and with pride.
